The southern region in the Moroccan Sahara represents 59 percent of the territory of the Kingdom of Morocco in terms of area, and its inhabitants are about a million and a quarter, they are approximately 3.5 percent of Moroccans. The state plays a key role in setting up infrastructures, providing citizens with effective access to basic services, and fighting poverty.

The gains achieved in the southern provinces are real and valuable, they are embodied in many areas, foremost of which is ensuring the security of citizens and ensuring the exercise of basic freedoms for the individual and groups, as well as the application of the law and most importantly the adoption of good governance in order to respond to the expectations of various private economic actors and the aspirations of citizens from public institutions and policies in order to establish the principle of equal opportunities and social justice. And that is through an integrated and multi-sectorial development model that establishes incentive frameworks in order to achieve the economic take off in these regions.
Our discussion in this webinar will focus on the aspects of implementing the Moroccan development plans and their reflection on citizens’ living conditions in the regions of Sahara, which has become the subject of unparalleled international attention, which is embodied by the opening of a large number of African consulates and the historical American recognition of the Moroccan Sahara, which confirms the realism and credibility of the steps which the Kingdom takes regarding these provinces , whether on the political, economic or social level.
