Alrededor del mundo vivimos en un estado de guerra permanente y pacificación de la resistencia. La violencia está presente en todas partes – desde los conflictos armados de alta intensidad o la amenaza de aniquilación nuclear a formas más disimuladas de violencia como, por ejemplo, la vigilancia estatal, la criminalización de la disidencia, estrategias de empobrecimiento económico o el machismo. Independientemente de la forma, las expresiones de violencia sirven para apuntalar y defender el sistema capitalista patriarcal que define el mundo en el que vivimos.

En este foro global contra la guerra haremos un llamamiento urgente a reducir las tensiones, a la desmilitarización, a acabar con el estado permanente de guerra y a comprometerse con el reto de construir una paz duradera y positiva.

Esta actividad tendrá dos partes: la primera será un evento presencial en la Ciudad de México el día 3 de mayo; mientras que la segunda parte se hará online el día 4 de mayo.

En el evento presencial en la CDMX tendrá lugar una actividad interactiva en que les participantes construirán un mapeo de las guerras, el militarismo y otras formas de violencia en sus regiones y países. Identificarán la función, los impulsores estructurales y los perpetradores de estas formas de violencia. Además, recogeremos ejemplos de resistencias, de la construcción de paz, y de la solidaridad.
Las conclusiones de este evento presencial serán recopiladas y presentadas en la segunda actividad que tendrá lugar el día 4 de mayo de forma virtual.

Around the world we live in a state of permanent war and pacification of resistance. Violence is all around us – from high-intensity armed conflict or the threat of nuclear annihilation, to more dissimulated forms such as state surveillance, the criminalisation of dissent, strategies of economic impoverishment, or misogyny. Regardless of the form, expressions of violence serve to underpin and uphold the patriarchal, capitalist system that defines the world we live in.

In this global anti-war forum we will make an urgent call to de-escalate, to demilitarize, to end this permanent state of war and to engage in the challenge of building an enduring and positive peace.

This anti-war forum will be held in two parts: the first part will be an in-person gathering bringing together those present at the World Social Forum in México City on 3rd May, while the second part will be an online event on 4th May.

The in-person event in Mexico City will involve an interactive mapping exercise where those present will be asked to map out war, militarism, and other forms of violence in their countries or regions. We will identify and draw parallels between the function and structural drivers of violence, and those who perpetrate it. Similarly, we will gather stories of resistance, peace building and solidarity.

The conclusions of the in-person event will be compiled and presented in the second part of the activity, to be held on 4th May as an online event.
