Registration space of the Virtual World Social Forum 2021
Welcome to the registration module
In the INSCRIPTION menu (right column of this page), you can register organizations as well as the activities that are part of the Forum's program, and the initiatives that show the transformative potential of the participating organizations. We invite you to read these instructions carefully before entering the respective forms.
1. Open an ACCOUNT
What can I do with my account?
This step is essential to make any registration, (individual, organizational / collective, activity in the Virtual WSF in January 2021, or an initiative, lasting line of action in 2021). When you open the account, you will get a username and password with which you can access your data at all times, as well as complete personal registration, or create and update organization, activity, initiative files-pages.
How many accounts to access the site can I register with the same email?
Each email address allows you to open only one account. It is individual. For two users on the same computer, an additional email can be used.
After registering, I did not receive a welcome email, is this normal?
No, you should have immediately received a confirmation with indication of all the information you have entered. Check the "spam" folder for an email from email@example.com ??? . In case you still cannot find anything, you can write to firstname.lastname@example.org ???? to ask for help.
2. INDIVIDUAL registration
This registration is for people who have already created their account and wish to take an active part in the WSF Virtual process and receive the WSF 2021 newsletter, or other information by email about the WSF. If you are part of an organization, you can indicate it in the field indicated in the form, otherwise, it is not necessary to fill in that field.
To participate, you must confirm that you respect the principles of the WSF
Does my individual registration allow me to participate in any activity at the WSF?
In the WSF, in principle, all activities are public and accessible, however the right to intervene in them is according to the modalities defined by the organizers of each activity.
In the virtual context WSF 2021, access can be given through live broadcasting and recording, with or without participatory chat, or it can be through inclusion in an interactive room with the possibility of asking to speak.
In my registration I can express interest in a series of topics: what is the consequence?
A person can indicate topics of interest. This will allow the facilitating groups of the corresponding thematic spaces in WSF 2021 to send messages addressed to people with this interest.
3. Register an ORGANIZATION
Which organizations can participate?
The WSF 2021 space welcomes all those organizations committed to the generic values and goals described in the WSF principles. All collective organizational forms that share this commitment are invited to the forum. To participate, organizations must ratify that they respect the principles of the WSF.
What can registered organizations do?
Organizations that register can contribute to the content of the WSF 2021 event and process by registering by carrying out or participating in activities or initiatives
Can an organization / entity be registered and not propose an activity or announce an initiative?
Yes, participation does not necessarily imply organizing activities or announcing initiatives. In this case, the people related to this organization will simply participate in the discussions on the activities that interest them, and come to meet with groups that promote initiatives that interest them.
Can my organization / group become a co-promoter of an activity or initiative already registered by other organizations?
This is possible in case the responsible organizations agree to this request. These agreements must be made directly with the responsible organizations and not through the site
Who can register an organization and edit its presentation page?
Anyone who has an account can register an organization which makes them responsible for editing the descritptive page of this organization. There is the possibility of including another person who can also edit the page. So it is good to intercomunicate in the organization to agree who will register the organization
I have registered an organization, can I update any information on its page-file?
If you are one of the two people responsible for this registration, you can edit this page as many times as you want
Where is the description page of a registered organization shown?
Each organization has a presentation page https://join.fsm2021.net/organizations/xxxx, where xxx is an identifying number given by the registration system.

4. Registration of ACTIVITIES
What is an activity?
Activities are workshops, panels, assemblies, exhibition of experiences and debates, micro-talks ... moments organized by one or more organizations, in the forum space during the virtual event WSF 2021 to advance in various purposes such as those set out in principle 1 of WSF: intensify reflection, carry out a democratic debate of ideas, elaborate proposals, establish a free exchange of experiences and articulate effective actions
Who can propose an activity or assembly?
Registered organizations can propose an activity, and this registration is done by a single responsible person . So it is good to reach an agreement between the organizations involved about who will register the activity or assembly
When this person creates the activity file, the people responsible for the organizations mentioned as co-preparers of the activity will receive the information of this creation by email and will be able to contact the editor by email.
I have registered an activity. Can I update its descriptive page ?
Yes, your activity page is editable without limit - and there are fields for which you will want to complete or update the content. Just click on "My Activities" in the menu on the right, and you will see a list of the activities you have registered
How are registered the assemblies on January 30?
An assembly is an activity registered like any other, but prepared by a wide group of organizations, which have come together to define its scope, its goals, its methodology, its expected results,
How many activities can be registered by the same person responsible for an organization?
There is no formal limit, it is invited to: 1 / intercommunicate among several organizations involved so that these activities are relevant and well prepared and 2 / distribute the roles of activity managers between those organizations acting together
How will the data of our activity or assembly appear on the forum site?
The file-page of presentation of each activity has an internet address https://join.fsm2021.net/activities/xxxxx where xxx is an identifying number of the activity, given by the registration system. This page can be used to publicize your activity on your networks,
How does the list of activities appear on the site?
The list of descriptive pages of activities is seen in a directory of activities that constitutes the WSF 2021 program . (see the Navigation menu or the link here: https://join.wsf2021.net/activities) .

How is the program made?
The program is the simple list of activities ordered by day and time
Is there a deadline to register activities for the event?
It is recommended to register in advance so that your activity is included in dissemination actions
Will the registered activities be accepted?
Only activities that respect the principles of the WSF will be kept in the program. Facilitating groups of the forum are in charge of caring for this..
On what platforms will our activity be carried out and transmitted?
The selection of the interaction and transmission platforms is the responsibility of the organization proposing each activity.
In the file-page of presentation of the activity; there are fields where to put the links, with which people can access the activity, either in the interactive room, or in the live broadcast channel
How are the activities managed once registered?
The activities are SELF-MANAGED by the entity( ies) that co-propose them: these take charge of their implementation in ALL aspects: policy (moderation), methodological (participation and debate mechanisms), linguistics (interpretation between several languages), or technical. (What type of interaction and live broadcast system to use? Who takes care of its operation? Is prior registration required to come? Who takes care of the chats that can be proposed? Etc. Who takes care of virtual security (trolls management etc. ) Who takes care of the recording, the upload of the video on the Internet and the possible dissemination on social networks? The documentation so that more people can access the content of the activity in the future?
How many themes can an activity be related to?
An activity can be related to up to 3 thematic spaces and 4 cross-sectional spaces listed on the registration page, and that must be chosen according to the topics addressed in the activity.
What can this relationship imply?
Possibly the people responsible for an activity can be contacted or receive information from the facilitating group of the corresponding thematic space
What are the time days in which a WSF 2021 activity can be scheduled?
The activities will be registered to be carried out between January 23 and 30. In principle, they can register at any time, although, from January 24 to 29, the time of 14h-16h UTC is reserved for thematic panels organized by groups facilitating thematic spaces
Observation: The registration platform uses the international time UTC / GMT (Universal Time / Greenwich Mean Time). Check the corresponding schedule in your city
Can activities be registered outside the dates of the WSF 2021 event from January 23 to 30?
Technically it is possible to do so. These activities will not be visible in the WSF 2021 event program
Does the facilitation of the Forum provide guidance on some type of material / tool for carrying out the activity?
As was said, organizations are responsible for all provisions for their activity, without restriction on the platforms chosen by them, but the forum site recommends giving preference to using tools developed in free software, such as for example, Jitsi, Big Blue Button, and others (for online meetings), framapad (for collaborative notes) framaforms (for online form) (see the corresponding HOW TO DO (link to come)
On the activity page there is a "link to online meeting URL" field. What does it mean?
Here you may indicate the link of the tool with which you will carry out the activity virtually
5. Announcement of INITIATIVES (Agora and Calendar)
What are initiatives?
The initiatives are campaigns, struggles, processes, of a continuous nature, driven by one or several organizations, descriptions of paths and lines of action in which these organizations are involved, which last for months or years, while the activities are programmed moments in the WSF process or event
Who can register an initiative?
Registered organizations can announce an initiative through two people who are co-responsible for the descriptive file-page describing what the initiative is about . This file-page can be updated without limit by them, which implies assuming a responsibility on behalf of the various organizations mentioned in the file. So it is good to get together between the organizations to agree who will register the initiative.
When this person creates the activity file, the people responsible for the organizations mentioned as co-promoters of the initiative will receive the information of this creation by email and will be able to contact the editor by email.
I have registered an initiative. Can I update its registration form?
Yes, your file-page describing the initiative is editable without limit - and there are fields for which you will want to complete or update the content. You just have to click on "My initiatives" in the menu on the right, and you will see the list of initiatives you have registered.
How many initiatives can the same person responsible for an organization register?
There is no formal limit, and it is recomended to: 1 / intercommunicate among various organizations involved so that these initiatives are relevant and well endorsed and 2 / distribute the roles of initiative editors among those organizations acting together

Is there a deadline to register initiatives?
It is recommended to register in advance so that your initiative can take advantage of exchanges in the Agora space during the WSF 2021 event . Indeed, certain initiatives can be formulated at the end of the assemblies of January 30, however they can be announced in advance by specifying that the more precise content will be defined on that date.
Will the initiatives be accepted?
Only initiatives that respect the principles of the WSF will be maintained in the Ágora space. The facilitating groups of the forum are in charge of caring for this.
How are initiatives managed once registered?
The initiatives are AUTONOMOUS lines of action developed by the organizations / collectives that make up their respective initiative driving group: they take charge of their content in ALL aspects: political (what are the narrative, goals, media options of the initiative, and who are the co promoters, how it is intended to promote the initiative in activities and assemblies during WSF 2021….), organizational (if and how are more organizations included in the driving group, and how does this group operate), linguistical (interpretation and translation for understanding between members of the initiative group), communicative ( who produce the presentation video for the initiative and upload it to the internet), logistics (who take care of: the presence of the driving group in the agora space during the event, at the times announced in the initiative descriptive file, who takes care of virtual security ( trolls) in the dedicated room in Ágora space , who is preparing a possible 2021 organizing meeting accessible from another room) etc.
Can the initiatives be presented at the virtual WSF 2021?
The group of organizations promoting the initiative can open a discussion room in the Ágora Space, and on the other hand they can publicize the initiative in activities that they organize or in which they participate.
How can our initiative contribute to a calendar?
Initiative promoting groups can indicate on their presentation page-file, up to three public actions of their responsibility, with scheduled dates, that may be included in a general WSF calendar during the year 2021
The succinct information about the actions requested are: the name of the date - action - its date - a brief description of the action - the place of the action - a link to information related to the action date

AGORA AND AGORA PROCESS
What is the Agora in the Virtual WSF 2021?
The Agora of January 31 is the final moment of WSF 2021, seeking to comply with principles 1, 6, and 7 of the WSF, that is (1) function of the forum: “to articulate for effective actions, (6) horizontality of the forum: no one can express on behalf of the forum - (7) function of the forum: make visible decisions and commitments made by participants.
Will the Ágora space be active before January 31?
Yes. The Ágora is also a process of informal exchanges in a virtual “Ágora space”, which begins in the days prior to the WSF 2021 event.
From then on, each group promoting the initiative announced at WSF 2021 will be able to open its dedicated virtual room in the Agora space, where participants, guests or interested parties, will be able to meet and discuss the initiative with people from the driving group. The hours of presence of group in its dedicated room need to be indicated on the initiative file-page and respected.
How to open our Jitsi discussion room in the Agora space?
In the tab-page of the initiative there is a field with instructions to create the name of the room in the Jitsi system
This name is accessible as an active link to those who consult the initiative page: clicking the link from a computer leads directly to the room - clicking the link from a cell phone may require first downloading the Jitsi application on the cell phone.
On what platforms can our initiative be presented?
In the presentation fiel-page of the initiative, under the heading “our initiative in the Agora", it is possible to propose a complementary room to the Jitsi room if it appears relevant, (essentially if there are many people in the room). The selection of an interaction or transmission platform is the responsibility of the initiative driving group organizations
How can the initiative discussion be disseminated?
It is in charge of those responsible for the initiative to make invitations to come in their meeting room in the Ágora space, share the link to the room and their hours of presence in it, that they have mentioned in the initiative's file-page
How does Ágora space appear on the website?
The agora space is seen through a particular presentation of the list of initiatives, highlighting the meeting rooms and the indicatidon of presence of initiative promoting groups in these.
Does the facilitation of the Forum provide guidance on some type of material / tool for the presentation of the initiative?
