    Mission / brief description:

    StreetNet is a global alliance of organizations of informal traders with the goal of representing street vendors, hawkers, and cross border traders. Currently we unite over 600 000 members from more than 50 countries. Street vendors are defined as sellers of goods and services in public spaces. They make up a significant proportion of the urban labour force in developing countries.
    Our key advocacy demands are:
    Recognition of street vendors and other informal traders as workers, in line with ILO Recommendation 204 on the transition from the informal to the formal economy;
    Ensure Decent Work for all workers, including workplaces free of harassment and violence according to ILO Convention 190;
    Universal Social Protection;
    Fostering Social Solidarity Economy, especially in worker- led schemes that provide informal economy workers with
    access to financial support, credit and health care;
